CALL TO ACTION: SUPPORT H.R. 680 – THE CARING FOR SURVIVORS ACT OF 2025
When a service member takes the oath of office, they are making the ultimate commitment—signing a blank check payable with their very life. In return, our government makes an unbreakable promise that if something happens to them due to that service, their spouse and children will be taken care of. Period.
Right now, that promise is being broken. Survivors of fallen service members receive far less support than they deserve, with Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC) payments lagging behind other federal survivor benefits. H.R. 680, the Caring For Survivors Act of 2025, will fix this.
🔹 What does H.R. 680 do?
Increases DIC payments so military survivors receive the same level of support as other federal employee survivors.
Updates outdated eligibility rules to ensure more families qualify for benefits.
Creates parity between military survivors and survivors of other federal workers—because a service member’s sacrifice is no less worthy.
🔹 Why does this matter?
Right now, survivors of our fallen service members receive only 43% of what survivors of federal civilian employees get. That’s unacceptable. If the government can take care of its civilian employees’ families, it must do the same for the families of those who put their lives on the line in defense of this nation.
